TRIBUTES have flooded in to the "loving and caring" landlady of one of the city's most popular pubs after she died suddenly.

Jacky Sadones, who ran The Old Bookbinders in Jericho, as well as the Three Horseshoes in Garsington, passed away on Monday night at the age of 56.

Her son Josh Mullett-Sadones paid tribute to his mother on the pubs' Facebook pages and since then many people have shared their memories of the popular landlady.

Earlier people had paid tributes immediately following her passing.

Mr Mullett-Sadones said: "My mother was, and still is, one of the most loving and caring, kind and honest people I know.

"She touched the hearts of everybody she met and I know she has played the role of mother not to just her own children, but to many hundreds of others.

"She leaves a hole in all of our hearts and we’re all at a complete loss as of what to do".

Both pubs were closed until yesterday afternoon.

The Old Bookbinders regular and city councillor Colin Cook said he was very shocked by her death.

He said: "I was very sad to hear she had passed away, it is very sad news indeed and far too early for someone like herself.

"My heart just goes out to all the people that she leaves behind".

Mrs Sadones took over the running of The Old Bookbinders in 2011 and turned it into a thriving alehouse serving quality French food.

Its regular Tuesday night pub quiz, which raises money for Helen & Douglas House, regularly draws dozens of punters.

The Three Horseshoes came under her management at the start of the year.

Steve Hare from Garsington said: "The vitality, kindness and warmth she brought to our village pub has made it a much nicer place to visit and in doing so she has improved our sense of community no end.

"She made Garsington an even better place to live."

Mary Clarkson added: "Really sad news. I got to know Jacky when she was front of house manager for Creation Theatre.

"She was very bubbly, kind and warm – a lovely person to be around".

CAMRA Oxford branch spokesman Dave Richardson sent his condolences on behalf of the group.

Funeral arrangements have yet to be made.
