JACK Brooks is targeting a second LV=County Championship with Yorkshire after penning a new deal that will keep him at the club until 2017.

The 30-year-old, from Tiddington, was the White Rose’s leading wicket-taker last year with 68 as they won their first championship in 13 years.

Brooks joined Yorkshire from Northamptonshire in 2012 and is eyeing further success at Headingley.

The former Oxfordshire bowler said: “I am thrilled to have signed a new contract with Yorkshire.

“I am enjoying my cricket and have had a brilliant 18 months with the club.

“It would be fantastic to repeat our efforts from last season and give it a real good push to retain our title in the County Championship.

“There is a great vibe around the place and I am confident with the quality of players we have here, we can continue to be a force in the game.”

Brooks’s exploits earned him a call-up to the England Lions squad earlier this year.

He hit a career-best innings of 53 not out off 38 balls against South Africa A in an unofficial test at Paarl.

Yorkshire begin their County Championship defence against Worcestershire on April 12.

Later this month, Brooks will head off to the United Arab Emirates for the club’s pre-season tour, which will include a four-day Champion County curtain raiser against the MCC in Abu Dhabi on March 22.
