PETE Davies welcomes Henley Hawks’ tough climax to their National League 2 South season as good preparation for next year’s campaign in a higher division.

Champions Hawks secured promotion back to National League 1 two weeks ago and face top five sides Worthing on Saturday and Dorking on April 25.

With their future already secured, head coach Davies describes Henley’s position as “luxurious” but insists his side will not take their foot off the gas as they look to go 11 games unbeaten tomorrow.

“We are not putting our feet up,”said Davies.

“We are in a very luxurious position that we are playing against two top performing teams and we’re taking it exceptionally seriously.

“We need to use it as a building block to start stronger next year.”

Davies continued: “It does not matter in the league, but we will be using these games to build new defensive structures which we want to implement next year.”

Hawks make 11 changes, four positional, from the team that beat Dings Crusaders 38-22.

Mark Bruce and Tom Allen form a new half back pairing, replacing the injured Connor Murphy (broken leg) and unavailable James Comben.

Piers O’Conor starts at full back and makes his first appearance for Hawks since being selected to play for England during their victorious Under 20s Six Nations campaign.

Jake Randall, who started at full back last weekend, moves to right wing and Fred Pierrepoint switches to centre.

In the pack, Nathan Taylor, Dave Manning, captain Dave Clements and Oscar Hirskyj-Douglas return.

Will Woodward moves to the second row and Tom Hall starts at blindside flanker.

Chinnor welcome relegated Shelford to Kingsey Road as they continue to chase a place in the league’s top five.

They are seven points behind Worthing with two games remaining and would welcome a favour from local rivals Hawks.

Head coach Matt Williams has made four changes from last weekend’s 31-7 win at Redruth.

Ed Keohane switches from fly half to full back, with Reece Boughton starting at ten alongside scrum half Frank Jones.

George Blewitt moves to outside centre, with Jack Hayes going to inside in place of Junior Fatialofa.
