CHLOE Hill fell agonisingly short of a century as Banbury beat Shropshire side Quatt by 33 runs in Division 2 of the Women’s Midlands League.

With a ton in her sights, Hill was bowled for 99 as Banbury posted 209.

In reply, the hosts fell short on 176-8 despite a third-wicket stand of 97 between Becky Rushton and Hayley Robinson.

Hill and Sophie Mitchelmore took three wickets apiece.

They remain second behind Horton House, who comfortably beat Charlbury by six wickets.

Caitie Burton was the only Charlbury player to reach double figures with 73 as they posted 107.

Horton needed only 22 overs to cross the line.

Oxford slipped to a second successive defeat in Division 1 as they lost by 26 runs against Burton Latimer in a low-scoring affair.

IN the Girls under 15 competition, Charlbury edged Best of the West by a single run.

Lucy Blacker (18) and Mara Smith (19) dug deep to guide Charlbury to 80-3 off their 16 overs.

West needed a six off the last ball, but Rebecca Woodnorth's effort bounced just short of the boundary.

OXFORDSHIRE slumped to a nine-wicket defeat against Warwickshire in their ECB Girls’ Under 17 County Championship A Division Group 2 game at Bicester & North Oxford.
