ALEX Ferreira hit an unbeaten 50 as Aston Rowant booked their place in the regional finals of the U15 Nat West National Club Championship with a six-wicket win over Berkshire champions Slough.

After electing to field, Rowant restricted Slough to 128-5 in their 20 overs.

In reply, Rowant chased down the total with the loss of four wickets, thanks to Ferreira and Ben Coldicott (28).

They face either Essex or Suffolk in the Group 4 finals at Old Albanians on July 27.

HORSPATH beat Aston Rowant by 106 runs to win the Oxfordshire Under 11 Competition on finals day at Charlbury.

A nine-wicket victory over Cumnor booked their place in the final, before Charlie Turner took figures of 5-15 as Horspath comfortably saw off Rowant.

In the semi-finals, Cumnor batted first and Alex Laird top-scored with an unbeaten 26 as they set 95-7.

Christopher Batten took 3-7, while Alfie Turner and Luke Heritage picked up two wickets each.

Horspath eased home with a loss of one wicket with Turner making 26 and Hylton Harvey 22.

Carrick Dunbar starred with bat (26no) and ball (3-0) as Rowant beat Kidlington by 118 runs in the other semi-final clash.

In the final, the Turner brothers of Charlie and Alfie were the stars of the show for Horspath.

Batting first, Horspath recovered from the loss of an early wicket and made excellent progress to finish on 134-7, with Charlie carrying his bat with 29 and Alfie scoring an unbeaten 25.

Luke Heritage also contributed 23, while Rowant’s Liam Hester took 3-13.

Charlie Turner then spearheaded Horspath’s bowling and won the player of the day award as Rowant crashed to 28 all out.

In the third place play-off, Cumnor beat Kidlington by 101 runs.

HOOK Norton narrowly missed out on a place in Sunday’s Under 13 League finals after a three-wicket loss at Group A winners Great & Little Tew.

James Ingham top scored with 20 after Hook Norton won the toss and posted 90-7.

However, Tew narrowly crossed the line with three overs to spare.

Cumnor beat Shipton-under-Wychwood and Oxford Downs to progress from Group B, while Abingdon Vale secured top spot in Group C with a nine-wicket victory at Kingstone Bagpuize.

In Group D, Pangbourne & Whitchurch beat Blewbury & Wallingford by 78 runs and Didcot got the better of Blewbury by 13 runs.

JAMIE King hit a six and a four in the last over as Great & Little Tew opened their account with a five-wicket victory over Minster Lovell B in the Under 17 competition.

Minster’s openers put on 105, before Felix Wright was run out on 29 by a throw from Tom Chesser.

Oliver Mersh batted through impressively, finishing unbeaten on 71 as Minster ended on 116.

Tew’s reply got off to a strong start, but after losing four wickets in five overs, captain King heroically steered them home.
