BANBURY United boss Mike Ford will not change anything as he prepares his side for their Evo-Stik Southern League play-off final on Monday.

The Puritans host Taunton Town in the Division 1 South & West season finale as they bid to round off a superb campaign with promotion.

A late Felipe Barcelos goal gave Banbury a 1-0 victory over Winchester City on Tuesday night.

And Ford believes the match will have improved his squad ahead of Monday’s big clash.

“The game this week will have helped us a lot,” he said.

“I have a very young squad and maybe one or two got caught in the headlights of a big occasion.

“But they know what to expect now and we will be in a better place going into Monday.”

He added: “I always thought we were in control of the game, but obviously the longer it goes on without getting a goal, the more edgy you naturally get.

“But we got it in the end, and the bonus of scoring so late is that it does not allow your opponents long to get back in it.”

Banbury played Taunton in their final game of the regulation season last week.

Although they won 2-0, Ford does not think the result will have any impact on their final.

“The match is a complete one-off,” he said.

“Taunton experienced the play-offs last season, but did not get through it.

“Does that leave a mental issue going into it, or give them extra motivation?

“We will have to wait and see.

“All I know is that we will prepare exactly the same way as we have all season and hopefully produce a good performance and get the right result.”
